Montauroux is one of a group of charming 'Perching Villages', together with Callian, Tourettes, Fayence, Seillans and Mons. Fayence has the best markets.

Montauroux village is situated in the east of the Var and on the border of the Alpes-Maritimes. The hillside rises in tiers from 150 m to 400 m. The village has a southern exposure, facing the Esterel massif and the St Cassien Lake. It is located halfway between the sea and various ski resorts, such as Isola, Auron, Valberg and Greolieres. Montauroux benefits from an exceptional amount of sunshine.
It has a charming town square with a pharmacy, hotel, some restaurants and a small bar. Shops include: boulangeries, butcher's shops, post office, tabac and the tourist office.
Over at the famous Lac St Cassien, five minutes drive away, you can swim, hire canoes and pedalos or just enjoy a good meal in one of the small lakeside restaurants! It is also a well-known spot for excellent fishing.
Behind this is the Esterel Massif edged by the wonderful red-rocked corniche running along the coast. The summit of this is Mont Vinaigre with views stretching over to both Cannes and Frejus.
